Criminal Cat Zine

In collaboration with CityStudios North Vancouver, the class IDES-122 at Capilano University’s IDEA School of Design was given the prompt “How can we support the community’s awareness and care for environmental sustainability in the City?”

I decided to address the dangers of outdoor cats on BC’s indigenous bird population with a zine. Zine's are highly accessible as they are cheap to produce, short form, and easy to distribute.
I wanted to use lighthearted illustrations, humour, and limited text in order to keep the tone playful and friendly. I wanted to avoid blaming the reader and focus more on informing them. As the zine is primarily illustration based, it can also serve as a way for children to learn and then inform their parents.
The collective work by IDES-122 won the audience choice at the 2023 CityStudio HUBBUB.
